Collecting Diecast Model Scale Cars
By Adriana Noton | May 31, 2010
Are you a person that truly loves their automobile? Are you the type that just cannot wait for the next opportunity to put the top down, turn up the radio, and hit the nearest route for a nice long drive? Then you will understand the appeal of a slightly smaller version of those joys, that of collecting scale diecast modelscars and and 1:18 diecast cars .
These miniature and scale versions of the real thing are actually quite beautiful and artfully made. They are true works of art in which oftentimes the parts are actually functional! They sport the same engines, interiors, and paint motifs as the actual versions they look like, and are quite fascinating in their own way.
So what best to do with this fascination? Why, to share it others who would be fascinated, too, of course! One fantastic way to start is by taking up the practice of photographing you toys. Put them in life like scenes, or make a pictograph of you building or restoring one. Just gather up some interesting and fun photos and post them online for your buddies to check out. Maybe you can create a space where they can post their pictures as well.
Better than just showing off pictures, how about a real meet and greet in your backyard or something? Make it a car club, but for little cars! Find a place you can meet, set up the tables and chairs, leave plenty of room to work on your hobby and help each other out, and you have got yourself a fraternal organization!
Hey, if you can hook up with other little car clubs, then why not join forces and put on an actual car show? Put it on just like the big ones at the fairgrounds, except you will not need near as much space. But you can sure enough have as much fun. Give away prizes for the finest and fanciest, set up a swap meet area for trades and sales, and try to make it as professional as the commercial gigs. This is a sure fire hit.
Now that you have club meeting and car shows and pictures to share, why not roll of this information up into one nice package with a newsletter? Here the pictures are in it, the club news, the show dates and times, want ads, and anything else deemed necessary for the enthusiasts in your circle. Everybody likes to stay in touch and know what is going on, and this is a great way to provide those services.
Finally then, when the fun and frolic is over, where do you go next? Home is usually on the minds of many, and what about home for your collectibles? Here may be the very best idea yet: either buy or build a nice, safe, garage for the little guys. Get a display case to store them in, keep them safe, keep them clean, and keep them in view. Every good hobby needs an audience, and yours can be on permanent display.
There is so much fun and quality time with friends that can be put together around collecting diecast model space cars, that this barely scratches the surface. The idea is to simply stay in touch with each other, spend time together, and share as much fun together over you passion as possible. You will never regret the times you did.
